What Is ICF Construction?
Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs) are rigid foam blocks or panels that are stacked to create the shape of the walls of a building. These forms are then filled with reinforced concrete, creating a solid, insulated wall system.
Once installed, the foam remains in place on both sides of the concrete, offering insulation and structural support. This results in walls that are:
Strong and durable
Highly insulated
Fire, mold, and pest resistant
Quiet and energy-efficient
ICF construction can be used for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, but it’s especially valuable for residential homes in areas with extreme climates — like Minnesota.
